Book Review

Books. They are exciting, thrilling, exhilarating, intriguing, magnificent, delicious, enthralling, and oh so much more!

To Have And To Hold ~ Mary Johnston

Summary ~ A fledgling colony on the shores of the James River struggles desperately to survive and earn the goodwill of the king of England while Spanish dons, ruthless pirates, and savage Indians plot to destroy Jamestown and it's handful of colonists. Meanwhile, a simple, godly soldier braves all odds to defend his honor and his duty to uphold God's sacred laws. The brother of the Indian princess Pocahontas fights fiercely for what he believes to be true, but on whose side? An evil English nobleman, empowered by the King, will stop at nothing to gain what his heart most desires, while young Lady Jocelyn Leigh, newly arrived from the King's court, must decide whether to honor her husband and her God or bow to a King's unrighteous command.

My thoughts ~ This was a very exciting and well written book. I don't normally read historical novels, but I'm glad I read this one. Not only was it suspenseful, intriguing, and slightly romantic, but it was also filled with faith, devotion, and trust in God. I would highly recommend this book.
